Do you want to know how to spell “class?” It starts with a “Z.” A demonstration of true class was shown by The Zombies who were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017 but weren’t among the half dozen acts announced yesterday (Dec. 20) that were chosen for induction. The band wrote a heartfelt message on their Facebook page today (Dec. 21).
Here it is in its entirety:
“Yesterday the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the Artists inducted into the Hall of Fame this year and unfortunately we weren’t voted in. We have been nominated twice now and every time it’s a huge privilege. To be alongside some of the biggest artists in the world is a great feeling, and we’d like to congratulate everyone who was voted in.
“We will never stop feeling honoured every time we get recognised. We’ve had an incredible career and had some truly amazing achievements along the way. We have amassed an amazing fan base who are the most loyal and have stuck with us through everything. Whether you’ve been with us since the 1960’s or you’re a recent fan, we appreciate you all so much and thank you for constantly sticking with us.
“We are so excited to be heading back out on the road next year with Chris and Hugh and performing Odessey And Oracle in it’s entirety. It still blows our mind that the album, although initially not “successful” is still loved and played all over the world to this day.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for us over the last couple of months. With over 90,000 votes it shows just us how incredible our fans really are. We didn’t do it this year, but 2017 is gonna be a great year and we’re so excited for what’s in store. See you next year!”
